11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
SYNOPSIS:
All of us desire to prosper.
However, because of wrong understanding and intense pursuit of prosperity, many have not only lived a life of misery, ruin and regrets but have also affected the lives of people around them.
God wants us to prosper also.
In fact, more than what we desire and think for ourselves.
However, the prosperity that He brings leads to a life of peace and joy.
He is inviting us to trust Him in leading us into prosperity His way.
Its our choice which way to prosper.
Man’s way or God’ way.
We can choose man’s way but end up in misery, regrets and ruin or choose God’s way that will give a life of real fulfillment and contentment.
This series will help us discover God’s perspective of prosperity and how we can experience the prosperity that He promised to give us.
1st Sunday
God's foundation for prosperity:
PUT GOD FIRST
Matthew 6:33 NIV
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
The key to prosperity is not to seek it but seeking God.
Real and lasting prosperity begins and ends with God.
He is the author of it.
When we seek God as our priority, He will show us what it really means to prosper, empowers us to attain it and sets us up to experience it.
2nd Sunday
God's key for enjoying prosperity:
BE CONTENT
Philippians 4:12-13 NIV
12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
1 Timothy 6:6-10 NIV
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
Many don’t appreciate prosperity even when they have it already.
Some waste it.
Others are ruined and live miserable lives in pursuit of it.
The very reason why people don’t enjoy prosperity is because they are not contented.
God’s key to enjoying abundance is contentment.
Real and lasting contentment is only found in Him.
Not only God is the source of contentment, He is the only Him who can teach us how to walk in it.
3rd Sunday
God's motive for prosperity:
BE GENEROUS
2 Corinthians 9:10-11 NIV
10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
God’s reason and intention in prospering us is only one.
That is we can be so a generous in every occasion for His glory.
Generosity begins with the recognition that all we have is ours but came from God for the purpose of being used for His glory.
Not only giving gives honor to God but it also protects us from greed and being enslaved by the love of prosperity.
